How Much Loft Insulation Do I Need?
The amount of loft insulation your home needs depends on the material being used, the depth and condition of any existing insulation, and how the loft space is constructed. For most accessible lofts insulated at ceiling level with mineral wool, the commonly recommended total depth is around 270mm. This normally consists of one layer fitted between the ceiling joists and an additional layer laid across the joists. However, simply measuring the insulation is not always enough.
